Overarching objective: Students will complete close reading of literary texts.

UDL Method and Materials:
DAYS ONE – THREE

Grammar :
Minilesson: We are going to spend the next few classes practicing effective skills and strategies for close reading of literature.
Day One - Model pre-reading strategies and read story
Day Two – Model Comprehension strategies
Day Three : Teach imagery; Students work on author’s background;
Workshop: Using “A Mother in Mannville” for a read aloud, I will model skills and strategies. Students will apply strategies to “A Mother in Mannville.”
Share time: Students will share their responses in groups.
Assessment:
Conferring and keeping notes.

Materials:
Copies of “A Mother in Manville” by Marjorie Rawlings.

Homework:
Independent reading – 300 minutes
